01Who I am
I'm Mani Chokkara, a data engineer. I like the part of the job most people find tedious: what the system does at 3am when a source goes quiet, what a partition key implies six months later, and whether the number on a dashboard can be traced back to something real.
02What I work on
Data platforms and the distributed systems underneath them — ingestion, streaming, processing, storage layout, quality, and the analytics layer people actually consume. I'm as interested in the contract between components as in the components themselves.
03What I enjoy solving
Problems where scale, reliability and correctness all have to hold at once, and improving one costs you another. Ordering versus balance in a partitioned stream. Freshness versus cost in a lakehouse. Realism versus reproducibility in generated data. Those trade-offs are the interesting part of engineering.
04What I'm building
AURYNT Data Factory — a multi-tenant synthetic data platform that generates, validates, certifies and delivers realistic datasets — plus a real-time fraud detection system design that pushed me deep into streaming semantics, back-pressure and training/serving skew.
05Where I'm going
Toward larger data platforms and harder distributed systems, in teams where architecture is discussed before it is committed. I'd rather be the engineer who asked what happens when this fails than the one who shipped first.
